I am interested in the unremarkable, largely forgettable routines of everyday life. I envisage these routine actions as fundamental institutions of the self and will explore the ways we may be both held captive by and rescued from stagnation and apathy.

During my residency at Burlington City Art Center’s Artlab studio, I will use performance, video , and sound to explore the notion of our everyday mundane actions as periods of confinement. Is this a confinement that we desire escape or rescue from or is it one that, through examination and playful exploration, offers us a deeper understanding of the self?

Visitors to the BCA Center are invited to the 4th Floor studio during designated hours to see works in progress and to participate in recorded interviews.

More

Today I interviewed a young man from Maine. When I asked what he was not afraid of, he said, "running 50 miles".
